Anika S. Heavener, MMSc-GHD, is Vice President of Innovation and Investments at The SCAN Foundation.
Throughout her career, Anika has developed extensive experience in both investment and operating roles. Her expertise began with her role in the creation of a $350 million venture capital fund, the Dementia Discovery Fund, where she represented the U.K. government as the cornerstone investor and developed a public-private partnership with pharmaceuticals, nonprofits, and government as additional investors. Her academic research focused on innovative financing models to increase access to dementia care in low- and middle-income countries. As an operator, she led the development of a $500 million enterprise data and digital health program at the Harvard-affiliated academic medical system, Mass General Brigham. As an entrepreneur, she was a Vice President at Homethrive, where she helped the start-up achieve its Series B and reach over $40 million in total funding to support caregivers and their loved ones with the journey of aging in place.
Anika completed her graduate studies at Harvard Medical School and her undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago. She is an avid runner, which comes in handy chasing after her two nieces.
